Smoothie Saturday: Almond Banana Smoothie

 Happy Saturday!  Just waking up?  Had a long night- or a long day ahead?  Breakfast can make all of that better.  It is the most important meal of the day… This Almond Banana smoothie is the perfect Saturday morning, post-run, hangover-curing, quick and easy breakfast.  The ingredients are pretty simple: banana, almond butter, milk.  A dash of cinnamon and a drizzle of honey if you want.  No almond butter?  Use peanut butter instead! Chock full of potassium, protein, and healthy fats, it’s bound to leave you feeling happy, healthy, and satisfied.

And, even better… It kind of tastes like cake.  Cake! I know!  I was surprised too.  Who doesn’t want to eat cake for breakfast?  I’ve done it… more than a few times.  But, you know, not such a great option if you’re trying to fit into that bikini for the summer…

This smoothie is as indulgent as eating cake (or cake batter), but its full of healthy ingredients that will make you feel good AND feel good about what you’re eating.  It’s smooth, creamy, just sweet enough to taste like a dessert.   In fact, I guzzled that whole thing down before I even sat down to write this post.  I couldn’t help myself!  

Almond Banana Smoothie
  1. 1 banana, frozen (slice before freezing!)
  2. 1 tbs almond butter
  3. 3/4 cup milk
  4. drizzle of agave or honey (I used about a tsp)
  5. dash of cinnamon
  1. Combine ingredients in a blender and process until smooth.
  1. Don't have almond butter? Sub peanut butter!
